iQ·link®XG Enterprise

Multi-user installations on Solaris/Unix or Windows Servers with a database supporting an unlimited number of links

The Enterprise edition of iQ·linkXG is our classic, multi-user, flagship product, which has been offered and developed since 1989. iQ·linkXG Enterprise is used and trusted by many of the world's largest operators, OEMs and managed service providers to design highly reliable fixed microwave networks.

iQ·linkXG Enterprise was designed from the very beginning to handle the planning requirements of any size backhaul and fixed access network, a capability that continues to be a major differentiator from the competition.

The iQ·linkXG Enterprise version can be licensed for any number of users and any number of microwave links (typically unlimited).

iQ·linkXG Enterprise is licensed based on the number of users that require concurrent or simultaneous access to the software. There are two types of licenses offered:

  1. Annual, where the license fee is paid each year.
  2. Perpetual, where the license is a one-time fee.
The iQ·linkXG Enterprise license can be configured to access a local or central server database.

Oracle license is sold separately and typically requires the "Standard Edition One" version. Please contact us for additional information on the required Oracle license for your configuration.

Software Maintenance and Support is offered for an annual fee as a fixed percentage of the license fees paid and includes:
  • All software upgrades and patches as they become available (typically 1-2 new releases per year).
  • Full access to expert, personalized technical support from experienced microwave engineers by phone and email.
  • Access to web-based discussion forum and secure technical support portal.

Please note: The suggested configurations below may change significantly based on the number of links in your network and the size of the GIS data. It is recommended to ask a Comsearch Product Support Engineer for a hardware recommendation specific to your requirements.

Operating System:
iQ·linkXG is available to run on any hardware which has one of the following operating systems installed:

  1. SUN Solaris Version 2.7 and later (Sparc CPU)
  2. SUN Solaris x86 (Intel or AMD CPU)
  3. Windows XP (Intel or AMD CPU)
NOTE: Virtual hardware environments are currently only supported for the SUN Solaris x86 operating system.

Hardware requirements are as follows:

CPU:
iQ·linkXG requires the following additional amount of CPU power available for each simultaneous user, above what is required for the operating system and any other installed software:

  1. SUN Sparc Solaris: an additional 400 MHz/core/user
  2. SUN Solaris x86: an additional 600 MHz/core/user
  3. Windows XP: an additional 800 MHz/core/user

RAM:
For all of the operating systems, iQ·linkXG requires approximately 700 MB of free RAM for each simultaneous user, above what is required for the operating system and other installed software.

Disk Space:
For all operating systems, iQ·linkXG requires approximately 500 MB of free disk space, above what is required for user workspace, the operating system, Oracle and any other installed software. A typical stand-alone installation might resemble the following:

2GBOperating System
2GBOracle
500MBiQ·linkXG
1–50GBFor terrain and morphology data. This is dependent on the amount and resolution of terrain and morphology data.
1GBFor working space
TOTAL: 4–54GB depending on the amount of terrain and morphology data.

Relational Database:
Oracle 9i or higher (additional license fees required).

Typical Configurations:

Local/Stand-alone:

  • iQ·linkXG, Oracle and GIS data all installed locally
Client/Server: Oracle installed on a central server
  • iQ·linkXG and GIS data installed locally
  • iQ·linkXG installed locally, GIS installed on a network share
  • iQ·linkXG and GIS data installed on a network share
  • iQ·linkXG installed centrally on an Application Server w/GIS data

Remote Access:

It is always recommended to provide VPN access to the iQ·linkXG server so that our Product Support Engineers can help you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

X-Emulation/Virtualization Software:

In situations where iQ·linkXG is installed in a central location, the use of X-Emulation software may be used for client display.

There are several different solutions from different manufacturers. Our recommendations are based on our experience and the experience of our customers. For slow network connections we recommend:

Citrix XenApp:
(formerly MetaFrame)

For use on local area networks with high-bandwidth network connections, the preferred X-Emulators are:

Hardcopy Devices:
All hardcopy devices used with iQ·linkXG running on Solaris must be PostScript compatible.

NOTE: HP offers some printers that claim to be PostScript compatible but will not work with iQ·linkXG. Most printers that are PostScript compatible have a hardware card installed that interprets PostScript into a language the printer understands. The HP Design Jet Color Pro GA is one printer that is not delivered with a hardware PostScript card but rather, it comes with PostScript interpretation software that is to be installed on Windows NT machines. HP claims that a version of this software is available for the SUN UNIX platform, however, we have been unable to obtain this software. For now, we recommend avoiding this printer and others like it which require Postscript interpretation software.

Printer/Plotter Suggestions:

Color: Color PostScript compatible

  • Typically HP DesignJet C series for large plots
  • Typically HP DeskJet C series for A4/Letter size plots
Text: PostScript compatible
  • Typically HP LaserJet 4000 series printers

Enterprise:
Available to buy three ways:

  1. Traditional per simultaneous user pricing.
  2. New option of Per Link pricing means that you only pay for the number of links you use the software for, rather than the number of users. No more buying user licenses that are the same whether you have 20 links or 20,000 links. Get unlimited Users for the number of links you need.
  3. For the world's largest networks you can buy the fully unlimited version, Unlimited Users and Unlimited Links.
This is your opportunity to get the best tool at a fair price that suits you.
